Our Story
Le Souk noun arabic
\sook\
A Middle Eastern market where life takes place. Filled with colors, light, smells of spices, layers of ancient buildings and civilization. Gathering place for friends, families, and strangers to meet, eat, shop, laugh, drink tea or coffee, discuss, and explore.
Le Souk opened in 2017 under the detailed direction of chef and founder, Jumana Jabr. Since moving from Damascus to Montclair over a decade ago, Jumana's mission has been to recreate the feeling of family through Syrian food and culture. Though you'll find classics like falafel and shawarma, we aim to bring the slow cooking that happens behind closed doors to you. Here, food is more than eating, it's an experience. Our space is decorated with traditional crafts from all over the Middle East and our recipes are hand crafted each month. A meal at Le Souk is an invitation to join our family, one bite at a time.
